This video work proposes an exploration through visual Archives that could be easily found any where on the web.
In this case, a historical event subject of numerous representations and reproductions throughout film history is the starting point to reflect on the availability of contents in our contemporary visual culture as a tool for production of different ways of understanding it.
The work focuses on the visual qualities of the specific media it deals with and its possibilities for manipulation.
A few words about the ''agent''
Leonardo Vargas is a visual Artist graduated from the Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU) in Utrecht, NL where he undertook the Master program of Fine Arts. He also holds a postgraduate degree in Modern and Contemporary Art History and Theory from Universidad de Los Andes (Bogota, COL).
His Artistic Research focuses on exploring certain aspects of our contemporary visual culture and deals with image circulation in relation with visual Artistic practices posing as consequence a question for the status and place of Artistic image itself as a field to explore.
Some of his projects include “/25-02-11/” on “De Hoeksteen Live” – Real time Interactive cross-media show Live from The Netherlands Media Art Institute NiMK-, “Ribba 16” Live from the Van Abbemuseum, and “Views of a Dutch Landscape” a contribution for “…And something Happened to me” at B32. Maastricht.
