Group exhibition / The work of new artists
Taf is pleased to present the group exhibition Studios which opens February 17th and runs until March 6th 2011.
This show inaugurates a new exhibition cycle that will attempt to highlight the work of new artists. This endeavor begins by presenting works by a selection of the Athens School of Fine Arts graduates of the past three years. Most artworks are part of the artists’ graduate theses, while others consist of the evolution of their practice since graduation. The cycle’s upcoming exhibitions hope to broaden the framework by presenting artists that come from other Greek fine art schools as well as those abroad.
The primary goal of this exhibition is to initiate a productive dialogue concerning the work of new visual artists and to feature new practices that are currently developing in Greece. By observing the recent graduate theses, one can detect new directions that are being formed in and outside the artistic studios, both in terms of technique as well as themes. The lack of an exhibition framework that promotes new creators, outside the educational environment, exposed the need to exhibit their work. Taf offers this opportunity by bringing the fine art school space closer to the city’s viewing public, through a curatorial process.
