Curatorial Open Call 2019
The selected curator or curatorial team will implement the proposed exhibition during the period 08.07 – 08.09.2019 and will receive a grant of 500 euros.
The proposals should refer to a group show with no restrictions in terms of artistic means. The age limit applies to the curator and, in case of a group curatorial proposal, it applies to all the members of the curatorial team, however it does not apply to the participating artists. The curator/curatorial team cannot participate as artists and only one proposal per curator or curatorial team will be accepted.
T.A.F. / the art foundation provides technical equipment, it covers the exhibition space operating expenses as well as the cost for a special accompanying print publication of specified standards and is responsible for the communication and promotion of the exhibition. T.A.F. / the art foundation does not undertake the exhibition production expenses or the cost of the transportation and security of the works.
The proposals will be evaluated by a special committee that will be announced soon.The results will be announced on T.A.F.’s website www.theartfoundation.gr and via e-mail to the participants. The evaluation criteria will be the integrity of curatorial approach and the selection of artworks.
Information accompanying the application
-Contact details (mobile phone number and email)
-Photocopy of ID card or passport
-Text articulating and explaining the idea of the exhibition (400-600 words)
-List of participating artists including short CVs (up to 100 words)
-In case of existing works, picture of the work, medium and dimensions
-In case the works are made for the exhibition, a short description
-Layout of the exhibition according to the floorplan of T.A.F.’s exhibition space. The plan will be sent to interested parties upon request via e-mail
Responsibilities of the curator
The curator (or the curatorial team) of the selected proposal will be requested to sign a contract with T.A.F. / the art foundation according to the terms of which, they will be held responsible, among other things, for the organization, planning and production of the exhibition outlined in the submitted proposal, the production of a press release and the compilation of the photographic material to accompany it, as well as the publication of the works of the participating professionals on T.A.F.’s website.
Applications can only be submitted electronically in pdf form, by sending e-mail to email@example.com and including “OPEN CALL” in the email subject line. Proposals can be submitted in either Greek or English. The deadline for submissions is midnight on the 30thof April 2019 (23.59 UTC+3). Proposals received later than the stated deadline will not be considered.
