a group show / about the concept of serving

T.A.F. / the art foundation presents the exhibition First Come First Served on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 20.30.

The exhibition brings together the different perspectives and approaches of artists, product and fashion designers, as well as professionals in the catering field, on the concepts of service and serving. Its title is borrowed from the popular service policy - in which customers are served in a priority order of arrival - while attempting a broader comment on the service process.

Could you imagine being sitting in a dining room and risk of staying without food if you are not involved in a synchronization game with your opponent? Would you pack your lunch in a tiny bottle in your bag? How would you react if you were served coffee in a soiled mug? And if they were offered to feed you?

Serving is a condition with complex social and cultural implications, and above all a system of codes where "everything finds their place": In the evolution of the dining room from the official to the modern everyday version are recorded the interpersonal relations, the hierarchy of persons, and the serving items, savoir vivre, the relationships between consumption and food. At the Japanese tea ceremony, serving is a choreographic ritual with an orchestrated succession of events.

The exhibition revises perceptions, established practices and codes associated with serving. Experimenting both at a conceptual level and at the level of form and material means, is of great concern to the creators. Usability of objects is often redefined or upset, the condition of the "familiar" is abolished, and elsewhere the visual delight undermines the flavor - or vice versa.

Works of the exhibition will be included in the Oh! @TAF shop for sale, which today, besides the collection It's all, oh so souvenir to me hosts objects of more than 80 Greek designers. Architects, product designers, fashion designers and accessories, photographers, visual artists, ceramists, graphic designers enrich the Oh! @TAF collection continuously with the addition of new concepts and collaborations aimed at supporting and promoting Greek creativity. The First Come/First Served exhibition launches a series of original synergy actions between T.A.F.'s gallery, gallery and Oh! @ Shop.

On the opening day the bartender of TAF Stathis Kolonias will present a mixology / bartending performance.

On Thursday, December 14, at 19.00, the food editor and member of Sustainable Food Movement in Greece, Harris Tzannis, will speak on ‘Food Styling Techniques and Art’.
